Don Everts

Minister of Outreach
deverts@bonpres.org

“I consider it a true gift to be called by God to Bonhomme at such an exciting and vital season in the life of this church.  The vision and momentum and direction of this community are thrilling to me – God is clearly at work here!  I consider it an honor and privilege to join in.

“I love seeing God’s word (these little seeds) sown into the soil of our everyday, normal lives.  When that’s happening who can say what kind of wonderful fruit will sprout up in our souls, our homes, our neighborhoods, our church, this city…?  As Minister of Outreach I am particularly curious to see how this growing kingdom fruit will bless our friends who haven’t yet discovered Jesus, our neighbors who struggle (often unseen) throughout the St. Louis area, and even folks on the other side of God’s world.  And, of course, I imagine all this growing kingdom fruit will leave all of us at Bonhomme indelibly changed as well.  (Most likely with wide eyes, thankful hearts, and silly grins on our faces.)  Watching God’s kingdom advance tends to have that effect on people!”

About Don Everts

Don Everts comes to Bonhomme after 14 years of being a campus missionary with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, USA.  During this time with InterVarsity Don worked directly with students on campuses in Washington (3 years) and Colorado (11 years).  In his role as Area Director for Colorado/Wyoming, Don oversaw InterVarsity’s work on several campuses, supervised staff and volunteers, and pushed the work forward in evangelism, urban ministry, international missions, and Biblical fundraising.

Don has also had an active ministry as an author and teacher – engaging gatherings of nonChristians, speaking at conferences, preaching in churches, and training pastors and ministry leaders across the US.  His 11 books include Jesus with Dirty Feet, The Smell of Sin, God in the Flesh, the One Guy’s Head series of postmodern apologetics and, most recently, I Once Was Lost: what postmodern skeptics taught us about their path to Jesus.

Don has served as a teaching Deacon at Hillside Church of the Savior in Boulder, CO where he and his family have been members for the last 11 years.  He graduated, cum laude with honors, from the University of Puget Sound in 1994.

Don and his wife, Wendy, have three wonderful children: Simon, Teya, and Victor.
